Lord’s Prayer
My husband’s favorite prayer has always been the Lord’s Prayer. He says it every morning and every evening as he takes his rosary in and out of his pocket.
Since his diagnosis, he has come to appreciate the line “Thy will be done” more and more. That line has become a mantra for him. Anytime he is struggling, this is the prayer he says.
The line in parentheses is considered part of the Lord’s prayer by many Christians, but not Roman Catholic or Orthodox Christians. I have also included the Latin words to this prayer.
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father,
Who art in Heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
(For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever)
Amen.
Pater Noster (Lord’s Prayer in Latin)
PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua,
sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo.
